POLICY · WORKING OVERVIEW

The issues.
The proposed work.

Eight policy areas agreed. Detailed proposals, funding and implementation arrangements are being developed.

POLICY AREA 01

Food & farmer support

Food affordability, agricultural inputs and access to support.

Proposed action

The policy work covers food distribution and market costs, alongside access to fertiliser, seeds, training, storage and markets for farmers.

What to measure

Track timely support received, production costs, losses and household food costs.

What this depends on

Programme eligibility, availability and funding must be verified; input support does not automatically reduce retail prices.

POLICY AREA 02

Fuel, transport & electricity

Household travel costs, business energy costs and reliable supply.

Proposed action

Options include fuel or transport support, transparent spending, and follow-up on electricity supply and billing complaints.

What to measure

Track household costs, passenger benefits, reliability and the public cost of support.

What this depends on

No subsidy design or price target has been adopted. Funding, delivery and safeguards require assessment.

POLICY AREA 03

Jobs & small businesses

The proposed Kosofe Jobs Desk, apprenticeships and enterprise access.

Proposed action

A Jobs Desk would connect residents with verified opportunities, help with applications and follow placements. Enterprise support includes access to tools, finance and procurement information.

What to measure

Track sustained placements, earnings and business survival—not attendance alone.

What this depends on

The Jobs Desk is proposed, not yet operating. Employment and finance depend on providers and eligibility.

POLICY AREA 04

Fair charges & fair treatment

Clear charges, accessible complaints and remedies for abuse.

Proposed action

The proposals cover disputed levies, unauthorised demands and enforcement misconduct through documented casework, legal referrals and engagement with the responsible institutions.

What to measure

Track resolved cases, corrected charges and repeat problems.

What this depends on

Each case needs evidence and the correct institutional route. Federal representation does not confer control over state agencies.

POLICY AREA 05

Affordable healthcare

Access to treatment, medicines, coverage and referrals.

Proposed action

The policy work examines barriers to existing health services and insurance, facility readiness and follow-up when care is unavailable.

What to measure

Track care received, access problems resolved and patient costs.

What this depends on

Availability and eligibility must be confirmed with qualified providers; the campaign is not a healthcare service.

POLICY AREA 06

Education & opportunity

School access, adult learning and pathways into work.

Proposed action

The proposals examine school participation costs, skills programmes, scholarships and practical help with reading, digital or application barriers.

What to measure

Track participation, completion and progression into learning or work.

What this depends on

Programme partners, selection criteria and funding must be established before assistance is offered.

POLICY AREA 07

Housing security

Rent barriers, displacement and homelessness.

Proposed action

The policy work includes legal and welfare referrals, emergency accommodation access and assessment of rental and housing support.

What to measure

Track completed referrals, appropriate accommodation and documented remedies.

What this depends on

Housing support depends on legal circumstances, capacity and funding. No home allocation is guaranteed.

POLICY AREA 08

Roads, drainage & services

Flood protection, water, waste, roads and maintained public lighting.

Proposed action

Identify specific failures, establish responsibility and pursue maintenance, project disclosure and delivery with the relevant agencies.

What to measure

Track functioning services, maintenance and reduced disruption.

What this depends on

Projects need a responsible agency, funding, inspection and maintenance arrangements.

PROPOSED FIRST 100 DAYS IN OFFICE

From proposals
to delivery.

  1. Establish a staffed contact and casework service with published hours.
  2. Verify Jobs Desk partners and farmer-support programme access.
  3. Document local service failures and the institutions responsible.
  4. Develop costed proposals and publish an initial progress report.

These are proposed milestones after taking office. The Jobs Desk and other services are not currently operating.
